Busted.

"Okay...nobody is looking..."
"So I'm gonna suck on Izzy's baby's binkie!"

He kills me. These were taken last week when the Downings were over. Izzy brought her baby doll, and for some reason, Owen took a liking to it, lol. (Chris was totally mortified, by the way.) He kept trying to suck on the doll's pacifier! Let me tell you, Owen took a binkie for like, 3 days while we were in the hospital. However, when we got home, he decided that binkies were akin to arsenic, and he would gag whenever we would try to give him one. So it cracks me up that he knew what the doll's binkie was for. He's a hoot.

We went out shopping for a bit today, although I was pretty dissapointed in the "deals" this year. Tomorrow I am taking family photos for a coworker, so I am super excited about that. Everyone, cross your fingers that it isn't too cold! It was supposed to be like 52 tomorrow, but, alas, the forecast has changed. Grr, Mother Nature.

Izabella!

The Downings came over this afternoon to play, and Izzy let me take 2.4 pictures of her, lol. Isn't she so cute? She has the longest eyelashes ever. Thanks for coming over this afternoon, guys! See you tomorrow at daycare!

Mobility!

Owen is officially crawling!! It took him all of 12 hours to go from still barely-crawling, to full-on mover and shaker! Needless to say, trying to take his Christmas pictures this afternoon was very interesting since he kept crawling off of the backdrop. Grr. Please excuse the hideous outfit...Saturday is laundry day, haha.

News

Poor Owen has to get tubes in his ears. He has had non-stop ear infections since he started daycare in August. Everytime he comes off an anti-biotic he gets a new infection within 3 days. So we will go to Children's Mercy for a consultation, and hopefully he will have his surgery over Christmas break when I am off of school. :o( Hopefully this will help him feel better. But right now, anytime he gets a cold, he gets an ear infection. His pediatrician assured us that it is a very simple procedure, and it takes less time to put the tubes in than it does to feed him. Anyways, keep the little man in your thoughts!

Sometimes you have to do what you have to do...

I found this pic on the computer and had to share, haha. This was the ONLY way that he would sleep, if he was in the Moby Wrap (the best $40 I ever spent...) He is a snuggle-bug, what can I say?

Busy Weekend!

We had a nutso weekend. On Saturday Owen and I met up with Beckie and Izzy P. at Gymboree, and then we went to a baby shower. Saturday evening we went to our neighbor's house for his birthday. Today we had my family's Thanksgiving dinner at my Aunt's house, which was very fun. Except for Owen was SUUUUUPER crabby. I literally wasn't able to walk out of the room or he would start screaming. Chris wasn't even able to hold him. It was nuts. I think that his teeth are bugging him, he just cut his other top tooth on Friday. My poor boy. By the way...Only 7 more work days until Thanksgiving break! And then after that, only 3 more work weeks until Christmas break! And then we are half-way to summer! Sorry for the random pics...I haven't posted a "real" pic in a while, so here are some more from our Hodge Park visit. Have a great week!

Mr. Independent

It has become darn near impossible to spoon-feed Owen. He is fine for the first few bites, and then he gets frustrated and wants the spoon. This is breakfast on Saturday morning....bananas and avocados. It started well enough, but then he demanded to feed himself. Then he likes to play his new "game..."
"Want to see how well I have my mommy and daddy trained? Watch this. First, I grab my spoon..."
"Oops! I dropped it!"
"Hahahahahaha! Suckers!" He gets me everytime.

I'm a Sucker

I joined Gymboree. I took Owen 2 weeks ago to a free class, we went with our friend Beckie and her adorable daughter Isabella. Owen LOOOOOVED it. He had such a good time. For those who don't know, Gymboree is like a baby gym where they have different activities like songs, baby soccer, climbing stuff, etc. When I was there last time, I was given 2 free passes, so I decided to go again yesterday with Beckie and Izzy. It was "Music and Sound" day, which if you knew Owen, you would know that was the perfect class for him. He loves to bang on stuff. So, after seeing how much fun he was having, I decided to just bite the bullet and pay the monthly tuition for him to go. I can take him every Saturday, and some Wednesdays, and to make it even better, we are planning on having Gymboree be Owen and Izzy's date-day!
Here are Owen and Izzy banging on the drum.

Here is Owen trying to climb the stairs...he isn't that coordinated yet haha. (Thank goodness...)
Here are Owen and Izzy hanging out on a step.
Here are Owen and Izzy on the Sound Bridge. Owen realized that he could make more sound if he actually beat the instruments agains the bridge, instead of just shaking them. That's my boy!

Here is Owen trying to steal an instrument from Izzy. Don't worry...she is a spit-fire! When he does get something from her, she works to get it back! :o) After their class was over and I was signing the membership paperwork, Owen decided to lean over and give Izzy two HUGE kisses! It was soooooo cute! Beckie and I are pretty nervous about these two...we only live 3 doors down from each other, and so far it seems like true love!

Hodge Park

We went to Hodge Park today, since it was SO gorgeous outside. I haven't been there in ages, so it was cool to see it again. We came up to this one old building (well, they are all old...) and I was looking for a spot to sit Owen for some photos...Chris spots a snake, and I see a dead mouse. Needless to say, we high-tailed it down the trail! We found this cool house that had a great front porch...O kept trying to eat the leaves, haha.

...and really awesome old windows. I can't imagine what it would have been like to live in one of those houses. Quick question...are the red socks too much? Chris HATES that I always put matching socks on O. I happen to like them...isn't he just gorgeous?

Then we found this other building, and sat him down on this rock. He liked to touch it because it was cold. This is toward the end of our visit to the park...as you can see someone is in need of a nap! (Or maybe he just wanted the camera away from his face!) He had fun though!

In other news, Owen had his 1st grilled cheese this weekend. Chris and I eat Velveeta on our grilled cheese sandwiches, so I had to find an alternative for Owen, since I wasn't sure how his little tummy would handle "processed cheese product." He seemed to like the sandwich! Tonight he is having avocado, banana, colby-jack cheese cubes, and pasta. Should be good. And messy.

In OTHER news...Owen now has 3 teeth!! My poor baby cut his other bottom tooth on Friday morning, and then he cut his 1st top one on Saturday morning. Yes, 2 teeth in 24 hours. We have had a FUSSY boy on our hands. A fussy boy who wants nobody but his momma, that is. Which is fine, but I might be getting a call from daycare tomorrow telling me to come pick up my screaming child...

Halloween!

Aaah! I am a crazy monkey!

Please pardon Chris's weird face...he hates pictures!

Owen had such a fun 1st Halloween! We took him trick-or-treating at a couple of houses in our neighborhood, and then we went to Mike and Christina's for a bit. Aunt Christina bought him a new monster toy, which he loves of course. He likes to chew the eyes, lol. Then we came home and passed out candy to a few trick-or-treaters, and Owen had a BLAST seeing all of the people. All in all, it was a fun evening for our little family! After Owen fell asleep, Chris and I stayed up and snacked on the left-over candy and watched clips of scary movies. I hope that you all had a happy Halloween!
