Last Minute Gift Idea!

If you are looking for a last minute gift idea for Owen, just head to Home Depot and get some of the springy door stops. Good gracious that child could spend HOURS playing with them! He is so intrigued by how loud of a sound he can make. If you can't tell, he is napping and I decided to catch up on my blogging instead of cleaning up the kitchen like I should be doing.

In other news, Owen is officially cruising. He can make it from one end of the couch to the other, and he is pulling up on *everything*, including the trash can which we should really move to the laundry room, haha. It won't be long until my little teensy baby is walking. Boohoo.

Obsessed

Owen has become completely obsessed with books. We keep his 4 faves on the ottoman in his room, and it is to the point where if we walk in his room to change his diaper he is pointing and grunting for us to read to him. It is very cute...but it can become quite inconvienent. For instance, when we were at the pediatrician today to get his oxygen levels checked (they were low, but the breathing treatments seem to be helping, so we are out of the hospital so far!) we walked in the exam room, and O spots the rack of books. So I sit down to read one to him, but he quickly realizes that these books are not HIS books, and he wants nothing to do with them. Yes, my 10-month-old son can distinguish between his favorite books and books that suck. His faves are...Peek-A-Who, Brown Bear, I Love You Through and Through, and Goodnight Stinky Face. What can I say...he is opinionated just like his mother.

Seriously?!

So, Thursday at about 11:00, I got a call from O's daycare, saying that he had a 102 fever and needed to be picked up. It was impossible for me to leave, so Chris went to get him. He also stayed home with the little man on Friday, because there was NO WAY I could miss. It was Christmas party day at school, and I seriously doubt that any substitute in her right mind would have volunteered to cover my class of crazy 6-year olds. ANYWAYS, I got home from school yesterday, and picked up my baby. I immediately felt wheezing in his chest. So, we went to the pediatrician, and it was determined (after a horrible test that included jamming a long Q-Tip up his nose into his sinus cavity) that he has RSV. Which is basically a really, really bad cold that Owen's body isn't handling well. They gave him a breathing treatment in the office, and they gave us a machine to do them at home...every 4 hours. :o( We go back on Monday for a re-check of his oxygen levels. If they are lower than they were on Friday, he will have to be hospitilized. I am SO SICK of my kid being sick. I am hoping that he is tough enough to get through the worst of it, which is supposed to come on Monday and Tuesday. We shall see. Anyways, sorry that I don't have better news. Here are some heart-breaking snaps of him getting his treatment. (Ya, I know these pics "technically" stink, but I don't have time to edit at all since he is stuck to my hip.) Have a great weekend!!

P.S.- he HATES his treatments!!! He freaks out. We put on Elmo's Christmas DVD to sidetrack him, but it rarely works.

Yay!

Just a quick post to keep everyone updated...Owen is getting his tubes on FRIDAY! We went to a different ENT today, since Children's Mercy was not going to be able to do his surgery until the 31st. Owen failed the hearing test, and when the dr looked at his ears, he said that there was no way that he could wait that long. So he talked to the surgery scheduler, and they got him on the books for FRIDAY! Holy moly. I am so happy that he will be back to normal soon! After he gets the tubes, he will have a re-check in 4 weeks, and they will give him another hearing test, which they expect him to pass. I AM SO HAPPY! And since I don't like to post without a picture...here is a silly snapshot of Owen being his cheesy self.

Christmas Card photos...FAIL!

First off, please excuse the above photo. I realize that it is totally out of focus, and I didn't even edit it at all. This is how every.single.picture looks like. Grr! It is either this, or he is crawling off of the backdrop. This is what I get for not having his Christmas card photos done before now!

In other news, Owen's surgery is tentatively scheduled for the 31st at Children's Mercy. We are waiting to see if an OR is going to open up that morning. Cross your fingers!!! At his consultation today, some sweet old man brought around snacks for the kids in the waiting room. Well, I got Owen a bag of Goldfish, figuring he could snack on a few of those while we were waiting. He ate about a handful of them, and then we go in to see the doctor. The doctor starts looking in his mouth, and Owen pukes up Goldfish. Gross.
