Random post, but I am kind of frustrated. I am home sick today, I have some sort of flu-bug that Chris had yesterday. We had parent-teacher conferences last night, and by the grace of God, I made it through them which was an accomplishment considering I started throwing up yesterday (at school) at 9:00, and conferences went until 7:30!! So, I took O to the sitter's today so I could spend the day in bed, and gear up for round 2 of conferences that will be tomorrow night. I told Chris that I made it through conferences because I have had so much practice holding back being sick, thanks to severe morning sickness with both of my pregnancies. Yay, me.
SO, the medical mystery. When I was pregnant with Owen, I had my blood drawn close to a billion times, because they thought that we had lost the pregnancy, then when that was resolved, I had to get screened for Cystic Fibrosis, because I have a 1st cousin with it. And then you have your gestational diabetes test, daily blood draws when you are in the hospital...etc. You can see where I am going with this...I was basically a blood bank for 9 months.
Imagine my surprise at one of my last appointments when my OB's nurse says "Oh ya, we need to get you in here for your Rhogam injection."
Me- "WHA?! I think there is a mistake, I don't need that." (Rhogam is for preventing the mom's blood from attacking the baby, if their blood were to mix, which can happen fairly easily. And when I say "attack" the baby, I mean, the baby can die)
Nurse- "Ya, you got it last time too, at 28 weeks, and then in the hospital. You probably just forgot about it."
Me- "Um, no. I pretty much have a phobia of needles...I would remember getting it!"
So, my OB comes in, and I ask her about it. She flips through my file, and sure enough, I didn't get it when I was pregnant with Owen. Because apparently I didn't need it, because I was O-positive blood type. So, just to be safe, she orders my hospital labs, which match, and then to be extra safe, she has me do an addition "type and screen" blood draw to see if it comes back that I am O-negative blood type, which is what my blood screen at 9 weeks is saying. OB says that it was most likely a lab error for this pregnancy, and NOT to come in for the injection.
Fast forward to yesterday, when the nurse calls me to say that, I am, in fact O-negative and need to get in and get this injection ASAP. We are talking she is *freaking* out about me getting there asap, because I have never had one of these obviously important injections during either pregnancy.
So, my friends, please tell me how on EARTH it is possible for me to magically change blood-types?? Ya, I am not getting it either. So, sorry for the random post. I am sitting here in bed, waiting for Chris to get home with little man, and this (apparently painful) injection has been on my mind all day.

The basement is DONE!

After lots of hard work on my sweet husband's part...the basement is done! Well, with the exception of the bathroom, which just needs a mirror...I didn't take pics of it yet. Here is our wonderful new couch! It is the perfect thing for our family to sprawl out on, and Owen has turned it into a jungle gym. And the cupholders are perfect for sippy-cups, just to let you know.

"HOLD YOU, MOMMY!!"

Our new TV, and a smattering of O's toys that are slowly taking over the space...hmm. I sense a recurring theme in our home...

YES! The slide/climber has finally made it out of the upstairs living room! Chris is so happy, I can't even describe it, lol.

The walk-out area, Chris put in slate tile. Please excuse the mess...these are our snowy clothes that we had to ditch here after playing in the snow this afternoon. :o)

The play closet. The paint color closely resembles that of a blue hilighter. We were at Lowes, and Chris was pressuring me to pick something for the closet...and this is what happens when you pressure me. I make terrible decisions, lol. The toy organizer is amazing. Each bin holds different things.. We have a ball bin, a critters/animals bin, a cars bin, a block bin, etc. My grand plan is to take pics of each of the contents, and fasten them to the handles of each bin, to make clean up easier and also have a sorting activity for Owen. Methinks this will never happen.

The other side of the play closet. We have a bin of dinosaurs, bag of blocks, bin of Choo-Choo trains, and a tool bench. No shortage of toys at this house, my friends!

We are so happy with this!! Chris did an amazing job of giving us some extra space. And as an added bonus he saved us a ton of cash by doing everything himself!! I love being married to someone who can take on a project like this! He is so awesome. All in all, it isn't a HUGE space, but it definitely serves it's purpose! My friend Christina affectionately calls this the "toddler cave" lol. How right she is!
Owen's 2nd Birthday!

Owen is 2! We had a big party at Air Zone to celebrate. It was so much fun, and he had so many people there who love him to pieces. He is SO into dinosaurs right now, so we ran with that theme! Here is O, waking up from his nap before we left for his party! He was so excited that it took me forever to get him to fall asleep! He kept screaming "HAPPY DAY!!!" and trying to jump on the bed because he was so excited, lol.

I was so busy running around at the party, that I really didn't get that many pictures, which stinks. We had about 12 kids there that were under 3 years old, and a ton of O's aunts and uncles and cousins. It was definitely a full house! Here are Owen and Izzy P., and Gavin playing in the first jump-jump.

Adelyn! She is hysterical!

Izzy P and Hadley

In the 2nd play area, there was a HUGE slide, and everytime Owen would go down it, he would squeal the entire way down, and everyone would cheer for him, lol. He thought that he was the king of the slide. I was shocked that all of the little ones made it up to the top! It had a huge staircase that they had to climb up. When Owen tried to go up the first time, he fell and took out a few kids, lol. Luckily they just fell down and stayed, versus falling down to the bottom.

O's delicious birthday cake. I purposely bought it bigger than necessary so that my large pregnant self could indulge on the leftovers. :o) Owen called this his "happy cake." :o) After the kids had played on the inflatables for an hour, it was time for cake/presents/pizza. Owen was definitely spoiled by his wonderful family and friends!!

At home, after the party. His Aunt La-La (Laura) bought this balloon boquet for him, and he is (still) in LOVE with the giant T-Rex balloon. It is still hanging in there, in our basement, and he plays with it every day!! When it is deflated we are going to hang it in his play closet...it is too cute to throw away! We definitely had a wonderful day, and the kids all seemed to have fun.
Owen, here are some things that I want to always remember about you being 2 years old. You are such a big boy, and you are ALL boy. You love anything that has to do with sports, especially basketball, lately. You have an amazing pitching arm, and you are getting good at catching, also! You talk ALL.THE.TIME, although pretty much only me and daddy can "get" what you mean. :o) You are such a stinker, and are always trying to make me and daddy laugh. One of your favorite things to do is, when I am cooking in the kitchen, you will get the tongs out of the drawer and chase me around trying to pinch my bum. Your dad is pretty thrilled with that, because he taught you to do it! You are a total monkey, and constantly amaze/scare me when you find new things to climb on. You are still the world's worst eater. Your favorite foods are peanut butter, cheese, yogurt, cereal, fruits, fruit snacks, Pirate's Booty, pizza, Chicken McNuggets, PopTarts, and popsicles. You don't eat much else!! You are going to become a big brother soon, and we are so excited for you. You love Hot Wheel cars, and you pretty much get one every time we go to Target because they are only $1, and that encourages you to behave while mommy shops. :o) Your fine motor skills are INSANE. You can work a screwdriver, pour drinks into cups, etc. It is truly amazing. You love animals. Your babysitter has a 225 lb dog, and you still think it is a cow. You are a total snuggle-bunny, and your favorite phrase is "Hold you, mommy!" You love to help your daddy when he works on something, and you are so observant. You pick up on the smallest things, and then weeks later you will repeat something that you have seen and send your dad and me into fits of laughter. You love Baby Einstein animal movies, but lately you have become scared (?) of pigs and raccoons when they come on the screen. You are a funny boy, Owen. :o) You constantly are testing boundaries, which I know is your job as a 2 year old. Your daddy and I joke that God made you extra cute, because you are an extra-stinker. We love you more than you will ever know, Owen!! We are so thankful to God for giving you to us, we never knew how much we were missing before you came into our lives. We are excited for what lies ahead for you...sports, school, friends, etc...but at the same time we aren't ready for you to grow up! I can't believe you are already 2 years old. Love you, big guy!
